About Payout.nz

Free, accurate pay and leave calculators for New Zealand workers.

Payout.nz exists because working out what you're owed when you leave a job in New Zealand is harder than it should be. Final pay, the 8% holiday pay rule, public holidays that land after your last day, tax on lump sums — the rules are scattered across the Holidays Act 2003, IRD guidance, and your employment agreement.

We turn those rules into simple calculators anyone can use — no signup, no cost, and the numbers you enter never leave your browser.

What we base our numbers on

Our calculators follow the standard public rules: the Holidays Act 2003, IRD PAYE and "extra pay" tax rates, ACC earners' levy rates, KiwiSaver legislation, and the Minimum Wage Act 1983. We update figures when rates change (typically 1 April each year) and state the effective year on each calculator.

What we are (and aren't)

We're an independent information site. We're not a government agency, and we don't provide financial, tax, or legal advice — see our Terms of Use & Disclaimer. For decisions that matter, verify with Employment New Zealand, Inland Revenue, or a qualified professional.
